We are here to support you in appealing unjust convictions and excessive sentences.
If you or a family member has been wrongly convicted, or sentenced our specialist appeal lawyers will be pleased to discuss your concerns with you. We will then take a full assessment of the case and scrutinise decisions and processes where possible.
A defendant can appeal the decision to convict them, or the sentence that is given to them by both the Magistrates and the Crown Court. Our specialist appeal lawyers have successfully overturned convictions for serious offences and challenged sentencing decisions made by experienced judges.
We are thorough in our preparation of such applications and carefully review the evidence and decisions made. See our step by step guide below to the route we will take to offer you the very best start in your appeal.
Our specialist appeal lawyers will have a case conference with you. We will discuss exactly what you feel went wrong in your case and explain your options to appeal decisions made.
We will obtain access to your case papers. We will request access to the digital court system, make contact with your previous solicitors and retrieve anything you may have. Once we are in receipt of all papers we will consider those alongside one of our specialist barristers.
Having discussed your case with you, given your papers detailed consideration, our team will draft an advice on appeal. This document will inform you of our advice as to whether or not you have grounds to appeal and explain the reasons why.
If we advise that there are grounds to appeal your conviction or sentence, the next stage will be for us to complete an application to the registrar of criminal appeals. This will be sent to the Court of Appeal with the written grounds and any other necessary documents such as, transcripts from the previous hearings which we will obtain on your behalf.
Whilst the Court are considering the application to appeal we will remain in contact with you and support you through what can be a very anxious time. We will communicate with the Court regularly so you are provided with update throughout the process.
If the Court grants permission to appeal following the consideration of our application, your barrister will be instructed to attend the Court of Appeal hearing before the full court to advance your case. You will be provided with an exceptional well experienced appeal barrister. Our support will continue up to, during and after your hearing.
