Being released under investigation means that the case against you is being investigated however, you are released without any bail conditions. This can sound appealing to most suspects until they realise that they are limbo for potentially an indefinite period of time.
Unlike bail, a suspect released under investigation is not given a date or time to return to the police station, they are simply told to wait until the police have finished investigating the alleged offence. This could be weeks, months and in most cases years.
During the time of the investigation the police can interview you and could also put bail conditions in place at any point depending on how the investigation unfolds.
