How Can Eventum Legal Help With Sexual Assault Allegations

Being accused of a sexual offence can be an overwhelming and distressing experience. The stigma of such allegations can significantly impact your reputation, relationships, and career. Often, those accused of sexual offences, such as
sexual activity with a child, rape, familial sexual offences or indecent images, have no previous convictions and little to no experience with the criminal justice system.

The first indication that you are under investigation may come when the police arrive at your home or workplace to arrest you. Sometimes, you may be contacted and invited to attend a voluntary police interview. It is essential to seek independent legal advice immediately and only attend a police station interview with representation.

At Eventum Legal, we specialise in defending individuals accused of serious sexual offences. Our experienced lawyers offer expert guidance and support throughout every stage of the investigation and court proceedings. We liaise with the police, the National Crime Agency and other investigative bodies on your behalf during the investigation to ensure your legal rights are fully protected and vigorously defended.

We have successfully represented clients facing a range of allegations, including rape, sexual assault, historical abuse, and offences involving children, such as indecent image offences, sexual communication with a child, and grooming. Our lawyers take a pragmatic and pro active approach to all cases, and specially tailor our services to the needs of each individual case.

With an increasing number of prosecutions for sexual offences and the Crown Prosecution Service often leaning toward a prosecution, even when evidence is limited, having a specialist legal team is critical. We are committed to challenging the evidence, presenting your defence, and supporting you through every step of the process, including strong representations in respect of court orders which can place restrictions on you for a lengthy period of time.

The team at Eventum Legal is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients. This commitment is reflected in our meticulous preparation of your case, our strategic approach to your defence, and our relentless pursuit of justice on your behalf.

At Eventum Legal, we take a proactive approach to defending clients against allegations of rape and sexual assault with a focus on early engagement during the pre-charge stage to potentially avoid formal charges.

Our bespoke services include a thorough review and preservation of critical evidence, such as communication records, social media activity, medical reports, financial transactions, CCTV footage, and witness statements, all aimed at presenting compelling representations against the allegations of sexual activity.

With a proven track record of securing acquittals, our team of specialist solicitors brings unmatched experience to every case. We apply a meticulous "no stone unturned" strategy from the investigation stage to post-charge proceedings, carefully putting together the correct legal team to suit each client's needs.

Indecent image investigations typically begin when the police receive intelligence indicating that an individual has accessed, uploaded, or downloaded indecent files through platforms such as KIK, WhatsApp, Facebook, or MegaNz.

When such information comes to light, the police gather details of the suspected user, often through an Internet Protocol (IP) address, email address, or telephone number linked to the activity in question.

Once a suspect is identified, the police usually obtain a search warrant to search the individual's property, vehicle, or workplace and seize relevant devices for examination.

It is crucial to note that the police are restricted to searching only the locations specified in the warrant; seizing items from unlisted areas could result in unlawful evidence collection. For more information on search warrants, please refer to our dedicated page.

After devices are seized, they are forensically examined to gather evidence that may lead to criminal charges. Facing an investigation like this can have life-changing consequences, including damage to your reputation and career.

At Eventum Legal, our dedicated sexual offence defence team offers a bespoke service, ensuring every aspect of your case is handled meticulously. We are also experienced in guiding clients through the appeals process, providing comprehensive support from start to finish.

With the rise of the internet and smartphones, incidents of revenge porn have surged, prompting the introduction of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act (CJCA) 2015, which made it a criminal offence to disclose private sexual images without consent and with the intent to cause distress.

However, the Online Safety Act 2023, which comes into effect on 31st January 2024, expands on this by broadening the scope of offences. It now includes new categories such as "deep fake" images and "down blousing," adding four new offences for violations occurring after this date while still enforcing the original CJCA 2015 offence for cases of historic allegations.

Facing accusations under these laws can be incredibly difficult, especially as cases often involve personal and emotional issues. At Eventum Legal, we provide expert representation in both magistrates and crown court, ensuring a comprehensive defence strategy tailored to the specifics of your case.

Whether dealing with allegations under the old or new legal frameworks, our team is committed to offering skilled and compassionate support.
